    I found the Bluehost update had affected our session cookie causing a logout when you uploaded an image. It had an additional bonus side effect of leaving a blank image in your portfolio.

    This is fixed now.

    I am working on a gallery page for the public facing pages as we are getting a nice catalog of images in our collective library.

    Last week I spoke at length with Duncan Cheung, a minimalist backpacking instructor and guide, and I'd like to share this program with you. Duncan is offering 3 free backpacking courses in October to help photographers get the skills to go into the wilderness to capture less exposed areas of our parks and backcountry.


    He's not charging for the course and is only asking course graduates to share their work, and consider a donation to support wilderness conservation. His organization Off Trail On Track donates 100% of their profit. Pretty meaningful...


    After speaking with him, I think this course would be well suited for those of us who have some outdoor experience and want to take their photography to the wilderness and want to know how to do it smarter, lighter, easier.

    From Melanie Lewart at the Milpitas Camera Club...

    Please join me for the Milpitas Camera Club's 15th Annual Photographic Exhibition starting May 1st and running thru May 31st at the Milpitas Library.

    There will be an Artist Reception Saturday, May 12th from 2-4pm. Come see some great photography, nosh on snacks and beverages, listen to live music by members of the Milpitas Community Concert Band, and pick your favorite photo for a special award for the Community Choice ribbon.

    As in past years, members of the public will be able to vote for their favorite photograph throughout the entire show—using the ballots provided at the checkout desk. I hope you will be able to come out and see our show. For more information visit the club website at: www.milpitascamera.com.

    Milpitas Camera Club's Annual Photography Exhibit being held at the Milpitas Library, April 28th thru May 27th. There will be an artist reception on Sunday, 5/7, 2-4pm. Those attending will be treated to music and food, along with opportunity to vote in our Community Choice Award.

    We really tried! There was a good crowd and we left on time only to hit terrible traffic. As we neared Cataracts the last 5 miles of winding road down to the lake were closed by a landslide!

    *** Note that I am pushing Cataracts back by a week.
    It is supposed to rain again next weekend. Rather then getting rained out I am moving the event to the next Saturday. I changed the listing to reflect the re-scheduling. Same time and channel :)
    This canyon will be REALLY good with all the water that is coming down now as rain. The trip will feature a number of raging waterfalls and a lot of moss and ferns with a really short walk!!!
